Senapati Gorkha Samaj celebrates foundation day

The 12th foundation day cum cultural meet of Senapati Gorkha Samaj was held on Friday at Taphou Nepali village under the theme "Revive culture, embed Identity".
The event was attended by Naga People's Organisation president Solomon Arow, social worker Robert T Maram of Taphou Naga village, All Manipur Gorkha Welfare Union president Hari Prasad Nepal, and Senapati Gorkha Samaj president Surya Rantawa Rai as chief guest, guest of honour, special guest and functional president respectively.
During his speech, Solomon Arow praised Nepalese rich culture and traditions, and suggested cultural exchange programmes with five major tribes under NPO to further improve relationship between Nagas and Nepalis.
The chief guest also highlighted NPO's inclusivity and urged cooperation from all for a peaceful district and preservation of the land's rich culture.
Social worker Robert T Maram also lauded the Nepalese for their sincerity and faithfulness, stating that they have contributed to the region's development.
Hari Prasad Nepal, on the other hand, emphasised the importance of preserving culture and traditions.
Earlier in his keynote address, Surya Rantawa Rai, highlighted the annual programme s integration with a cultural meet to showcase Nepalese culture.
He acknowledged the support of NPO and other CSOs in uplifting the Gorkhas and thanked village elders, chairmen, and Secretaries of 30 Gorkha villages for cooperation.
Various cultural items from Damai, Rai, Gurung, Bhujel, Khas, Sherpa, Limbu, Kami, Newar, Magar, Tamang and Sarki Samaj were showcased during the event.
The chief guest unveiled the memorial stone at Taphou Nepali village.
A one-minute silence was observed by gathering in honour of late Sahdev Gurung, founder president of Senapati Gorkha Samaj.
