Senapati Gorkha Samaj celebrates foundation day / cultural meet

The 12th foundation day celebration cum cultural meet of Senapati Gorkha Samaj was held at Taphou Nepali village under the theme, "Revive culture, embed Identity" .
The event was graced by Solomon Arow, president of Naga People's Organization, Senapati as the chief guest; Robert T Maram, social worker, Taphou Naga village as the guest of honour, Hari Prasad Nepal, president of All Manipur Gorkha Welfare Union as special guest and Surya Rantawa Rai, president of Senapati Gorkha Samaj as the functional president.
Delivering the keynote address, Surya Rantawa Rai said that the foundation day celebration and cultural meet is held together this year to showcase the rich culture of the Nepalese.

He also acknowledged the support of the NPO and all civil society organizations (CSOs) of Senapati district for the upliftment of the Gorkhas of the district and its adjoining areas.
Speaking at the occasion, Robert T Maram lauded the Nepalese for their sincerity and faithfulness in whatever job they are assigned to.
He also maintained that Nepalese helped the Nagas in different ways including contribution to the development of the region.
AMGWU president, Hari Prasad Nepal stressed on the need of preserving one's culture inherited from the forefathers so as to pass it on to the younger generations.
Speaking as the chief guest, Solomon Arow, NPO president commended the Nepali community for safeguarding their rich culture and traditions.
He also expressed the desire of organising cultural exchange programmes in the district to foster healthy relations and peaceful coexistence among the different communities residing in Senapati district.
The NPO president went on to state that NPO is for all and not confined only to the Nagas and called for cooperation and love among one another for a peaceful Senapati district.
Different cultural items from Damai, Rai, Gurung, Bhujel, Khas, Sherpa, Limbu, Kami, Newar, Magar, Tamang and Sarki Samaj were showcased during today's event.
As a part of the programme, the chief guest unveiled a memorial stone at Taphou Nepali village and the attendees observed a one minute silence in the honour of the first founder president, late Sahdev Gurung.
