MU signs 2nd MoU with RIS, joins UCH

Manipur University has signed its second Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Research and Information System (RIS) for Developing Countries, New Delhi, on June 3 during the International Conference on Triangular Cooperation and South-South Cooperation held on June 3-4, 2025 .
The MoU marks the university's formal entry into the University Connect Hub, making it one of the 21 universities in India to collaborate with RIS.
The MoU was signed on behalf of Manipur University by vice-chancellor Prof Naorem Lokendra Singh and on behalf of RIS by director general Prof Sachin Chaturvedi.
As per the agreement, both institutions will carry out joint Researches, share information and publish jointly on mutually agreed areas of research.
RIS, New Delhi, is recognised as the Think Tank of the Global South with emphasis on impact and solutions for developing countries.
Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony with RIS and the 21 universities, Prof Naorem Lokendra Singh asserted that the partnership opens a new horizon for Manipur University to engage in a wider scope of idea exchange and policy research.
He underscored the strategic importance of the university due to its geographical location and its academic interest in South East Asia, particularly Myanmar.
He said that Manipur University has been engaged in teaching and research in various areas related to South East Asia and Myanmar affairs, exuding hope that the new MoU would widen the scope of academic researches and research on policy matters.
Earlier, Manipur University had signed its first MoU with RIS in January this year to collaborate on Indo-Pacific Affairs.
The first MoU had made a special mention of the Centre for Myanmar Studies at Manipur University.
