Imphal, May 11 2009: THE REGISTRAR of Manipur University (MU) stated that the University shall not recognize any Students' Union at MU until the formation of the Union is brought under the Statues of the University in compliance with the office memorandum issued by the Chancellor on April 29 and an office note issued by the Vice Chancellor today in a press release.

The statement further stated that the University shall institute a Students' Council, under Statute 40 of Manipur University Act 2005, with effect from the Academic Session of 2009-10 as instructed by the Chancellor.

Dean of Students' Welfare is also appealed to take necessary action.
