Meet seeks Govt attention to end ethnic conflict

A joint meeting of Manipur Meitei Association Bangalore (MMAB), Lukram Leirak Youth Club and Union of Association of Manipur Writers held at Lukram Leirak Youth Club, Sagolband auditorium on Thursday discussed about the restive situation in Manipur and sought attention of the government to end the conflict.
The meeting was attended by club president Mayengbam Robindro, Union of Association of Manipur Writers' vice president Sh Prahlad Sharma, Saratchand Thiyam, secretary Rakesh Naorem, assistant secretary Mayanglambam Arunkumar, executive member Ksh Subadani, writer Uma Mayengbam, MMAB president RK Jhalajit, advisors Potshangbam Omprakash, Soibam Sunil, Jenial Thiyam, John Nongmaithem and others.
Speaking in this regard, RK Jhalajit informed that a nine-member team of MMAB came on September 10 for taking ground report about the present situation.
He stressed the need for proper reporting in national and international newspapers in addition to local dailies.
Sharatchand Thiyam pointed out that the conflict has caused tremendous problems to the people and particularly the displaced people.
The government should take immediate steps to resettle them to their original homes and end the conflict, he urged, while adding that Manipuri writers stand firm for the protection of motherland.
