Imphal, September 14 2023:
Condemning the attacks and extortion of tankers along National High-way-37 during the on-going conflict, petroleum products transporters continued to stick to their stand not to operate any tankers along the national highway.
On Thursday, representatives of the transporters' unions met the state chief secretary over the former's decision on not draw and bring fuel to the state.
The transporters urged the government to help put an end to the extortion activities and attacks on the tankers along the highway from time to time.
They conveyed that the tankers cannot continue the service until the government takes strict action in the matter.
To this, the chief secretary assured to take up all necessary measures at the earliest, including talking with the officials concerned.
However, he (CS) did not provide a timeline in this regard.
As such, the transporters remained firm on their stand on not to transport petroleum products until the government takes up requisite measures to ensure the safety of the tankers.
