Joint meeting calls for sustainable solution, peace

Expressing dismay over the ongoing conflict which has led to the loss of many precious lives and left thousands displaced, Manipuri Meetei Association Bangalore (MMAB), Lukram Leirak Youth Club and Manipurgi Ayiba Lupsing-gi Apunba Lup (MALAL) have appealed to the State and Central Government to make a concerted effort to find a sustainable solution and restore peace & normalcy in Manipur.
MMAB, Lukram Leirak Youth Club and MALAL made the appeal today during a joint meeting held at the Auditorium of Lukram Leirak Youth Club, Sagolband.

It was attended by Lukram Leirak Youth Club president Mayengbam Robindro, MALAL vice president Sh Prahalad Sharma, Saratchand Thiyam, executive member Rakesh Naorem, assistant secretary Mayanglambam Uttamkumar, executive membre Kshetrimayum Subadani, Dr Uma Mayengbam, MMAB president RK Jhaljit Singh, advisor Potsangbam Omprakash, Soibam Sushil, Jenial Thiyam and general secretary John Nongmaithem among others.
Speaking on the occasion, RK Jhaljit stated that a 9-member team of MMAB came to Imphal on September 10 last to take a ground report of the prevailing situation in Manipur.
He shared that the team visited a number of relief camps set up in different places and interacted with the inmates to understand the ground reality of what has been going on in the State since the conflict broke out on May 3 .
He then stressed on the need for columnists, writers and historians of Manipur to write genuine reports not only in local but also in National and International newspapers/ media platforms to make people across the Globe aware of the facts and reality of the present unrest.
Alleging that Chin Kuki Militants have been carrying out a smear campaign to blame the Meitei community by distorting facts and giving fabricated reports in National News, he asserted that MMAB will do its parts to make the people aware about the truth behind the present unrest and urged all the intellectuals/ writers of Manipur to look into the matter.
Sahitya Akademi Awardee Saratchand Thiyam conveyed that people of Manipur have been suffering due to the conflict which has been going on for more than 4 months.
He urged the Government to take necessary steps to end the conflict and restore normalcy in Manipur at the earliest.
Highlighting that people of Manipur do not want the prefabricated temporary shelter homes built by the Government, Ksh Subadani appealed to the Government to find a lasting solution so that the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) could return to their respective home and live peacefully.
Rakesh Naorem expressed his gratitude to the Meitei brethren who are living in Bangalore for sending relief materials including sanitary pads for women to Lukram Leirak Youth Club and MALAL.
He shared that the relief materials provided by MMAB have been distributed to more than 25 relief camps set up in different places by members of Lukram Leirak Youth Club and MALAL.
