Thoubal, May 26 2025:
Denouncing the forced removal of the word "Manipur" from a State Transport bus by the Central security personnel at Gwaltabi on May 20, the Meira Paibis of Wangjing area along with IDPs of Moreh and members of UMO Thoubal took out a protest rally from Thoubal Athokpam Arong Thong to Athokpam Keithel and submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal demanding public apology from the Governor of Manipur regarding the incident.
A large number of protesters marched towards Thoubal DC Office with the banner "Don't try to obliterate Manipur, Resign Manipur Governor, Go back Central forces" .
They were thwarted by the security personnel at Athokpam Keithel and some representatives were then taken to meet the Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal, Hannah Kamei.
During the rally, a meira paibi leader named Santi said that the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi hasn't uttered a single word regarding the Manipur violence for the past two years.
But the group of journalists who were heading to attend the Shirai Lily Festival were halted and detained by the central security personnel to conceal the word "Manipur" from a State Transport bus.
Such unethical acts of the central security forces is unfortunate and condemned at the strongest term by the mothers of Manipur, said Santi.
