School extends monetary aid to injured student

Headmistress and school management committee of Malom Megha High School extended financial assistance to school's class VII student Huidrom Anish, who suffered injuries in a crackdown by security forces against protestors on Sunday.
Anish, who got hit by a tear gas shell fired by security forces while dispersing protestors demanding release of arrested Arambai Tenggol members, is currently undergoing treatment at RIMS hospital.
School's headmistress Ch Davyenti along With representatives of the school management committee enquired Anish's condition at the hospital on Monday and handed over financial assistance to aid the student's family in meeting the treatment expense to some extent.
Davyenti told media persons that Anish suffered grave wounds on his leg during the crackdown on Sunday at Konjeng Hazari Leikai area along Tiddim road.
The tear gas shell battered the student's toes forcing amputation of one and surgical process likely on the second toe.
As the parents are daily wagers, they are facing financial issues bearing the treatment cost, noted the headmistress, adding that monetary assistance was extended to mitigate the family's problem to some extent.
She also appealed to the people and student organisations to extend financial support to Anish.
According to Davyenti, security forces using tear gas shells, rubber bullets and stun grenades to disperse agitators is understandable as they are discharging their duties.
However, resorting to excessive actions and causing injuries to students and innocent people are not acceptable, she added.
