Kuki duo held with drugs by protesters

Jiribam, June 08 2025: Amid the total shutdown enforced in Jiribam on Sunday by Arambam Tenggol supporters, two Kuki individuals were apprehended with suspected drugs along the NH-37 stretch at Lamlong Keithel, here.

According to sources, as the bandh supporters were blocking the road and restricting movement, they spotted two individuals approaching on a two-wheeler.

When the protesters attempted to stop them, the riders attempted to flee, resulting in a brief chase and eventual overpowering of the two.

Upon inspection, the duo was identified as members of the Kuki community.

On further checking they were found in possession of a substance suspected to be heroin.

The items were seized, and the individuals handed over to Jiribam police for further investigation.
