Farmers advised to embrace mechanised farming

EDC (Agro Divisions), Kwakeithel Heinoukhongnembi, Imphal proprietor Meisnam Robindro Singh has said that using new agricultural machines manufactured and introduced from time to time, not only help in increasing the yield, but also enhance income of the farmers while reducing labour and expenses in carrying out agricultural activities.
He made the statement at the launch of a rice planter machine at Kakmayai Loukol in Thoubal district on Friday.
Robindro informed that Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Thoubal had already began using the rice planter from last year, with the machine launched on Friday being the first one to be used in Yairipok area.
Efforts are underway to launch the machine in other areas as well, he conveyed.
He continued that the machine can be used by 1-2 people with one litre of petrol for up to an hour covering one Tou sangam' .
Apart from the rice machine, other machines such as drones to spray weedicides, rotavator, grass cutter, and harvesting - reaping -bind -ing equipment are available at discounted prices.
Thus, he appealed to all to use the equipment to save money and labour and increase both yield and income.
One Wanglenamba (Sanahal) Chenglei of Yairipok Khoirom Mathak Leikai, who is a farmer, appreciated EDC (Agro Divisions) for launching the machine.
