Tamenglong, Noney join 'Swachhata Hi Seva' campaign

Tamenglong/Noney, September 17 2024: In a proactive step towards promoting cleanliness and environmental sustainability in the district, Tamenglong deputy commissioner Dr L Angshim Dangshawa launched the 'Swachhata Hi Seva' campaign on Tuesday.

The launch event held at Tamenglong mini secretariat marked the beginning of a concerted effort to inspire citizens to take responsibility for keeping their surroundings clean.

The campaign will run till October 2, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, who championed the principles of cleanliness and social responsibility.

The launch event was attended by district level officials including Autonomous District Council (ADC), Tamenglong CEO Kachamthai F Gangmei and Assistant Commandant (AC) of the Central Reserve Police Force Angambou, PHED assistant engineer Premson T Panmei and other DLOs.

Following the launch, Dr Angshim led a cleanliness drive within the DC office compound in the mini secretariat complex and along the approach road, clearing litter and debris, setting a powerful example for the community.

In addition to the cleanliness drive at DC office, the team visited the under-construction helipad in the district to assess its cleanliness and environmental impact.

Similar campaign was also held at different government department offices.

As a part of the nationwide campaign, ADM/ADC Noney Stiff Khapudang also launched the Swachhata Hi Seva programme for Noney district at the DCs office complex on Tuesday during which Swachhata pledge, led by the ADM, was taken by all attendees.

The main activity of the day was a large-scale cleanliness drive in and around the Noney DC office complex, spearheaded by the PHED Noney Division as the nodal department.

District-level officers including Noney ZEO Xavier Longmei, CMO Dr Zianthuilung Kamei, PHED EE Thanchui Panmei, and Noney district co-operative officer D Dongaingam were also present, apart from members of various NGOs and staff of Noney DC .
