WRD officials inspect landslide at Tekcham Chingkakpi River

Thoubal, June 07 2025: Officials of Water Resources Department's Flood Control, Thoubal Division today inspected the landslide site at Tekcham Chingkakpi River which was brought on by recent incessant rains.

The inspection was carried out under the supervision of Wangjing Tentha KLA Paonam Brojen Singh at the site which lies between Wangjing Tentha AC and Kakching, said a statement issued by the MLA's PRO S Jayadeba Singh.

The Tekcham Maning Chingkakpi River is flanked by two mountains on either side.

Due to its location, heavy rainfall leads to frequent landslides which block the river.

In turn, this leads to flooding in Tekcham Loukol, Sapam Loukol and Tentha Loukol, damaging homes, fish farms and paddyfields and causing great difficulties to the people of Tekcham, Sapam, Tentha and surrounding areas, said the PRO statement.

In order to bring about a permanent solution to this persistent issue, a full fledged survey of the area was conducted by high ranking officials of Flood Control, Thoubal Division, WRD.

The PRO statement assured that steps will be taken up swiftly to renovate/restore the area.
