Imphal, August 09 2015 :
National General Secretary of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) and MLA of Langthabal A/C Karam Shyam has put pressure on the party's National President and Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Ram Vilas Paswan to take a decision on the ongoing ILPS issue in Manipur.
The Union Minister was urged to make a stand on the ILPS issue which has turned Manipur into a society in turmoil, apart from the issue on closing down of all educational institutes in the State, Shyam told reporters at Mairenkhong Rising Club.
Shyam said that he met Paswan on August 7 at room no 39 of Parliament House during which he apprised him about the present scenario in Manipur.
Paswan expressed his concern about the indigenous communities of Manipur threatened by the demographic imbalance, he said, adding the Union Minister assured to make every possible effort to resolve the issue.
Supporting the ILPS movement, Paswan expressed the urgent need for uniting all political parties of the State to convince the Central leaders on the ongoing issue in the interest of the Manipuri people, Shyam added.
Shyam then appealed to people from all walks of life in Manipur to take up democratic forms of agitation and commented on the recent Naga Peace Accord saying the much-awaited solution to the Naga political problem is welcomed, but in the process the territorial integrity of the neighbouring States should not be affected.
He also raised the issue on Naga Peace Acord with Paswan during the meeting.
