Sit-ins continue

The demand for Inner Line Permit system continues with sit-in-protests staged at different places.
Menfolk of Keishampat Kangabam Leikai and Sagolband Kangabam Leikai jointly held a sit-in-protest in front of Hotel Bheigo today voicing dissatisfaction with the pace in which the ILP issue is being handled by the State Government.
A similar protest was held at Loitang Khunou Chaprou organised by the joint meira paibi lups of Senjam Chirang area.
The protesters also blocked the roads at Loitang Khunou today as part of their protest.
Salungpham Meira Paibi Association in association with All Manipur Women Voluntary Association also staged a protest demonstration at Salungpham Panthoibi bazar.
The associations also took off on a torch rally in the evening yesterday.
Konung Leikai Nupi Kanglup, Thangapat Mapan and Youth Development Club, Konung Leikai also staged a joint sit-in-protest at Wangkhei bazar.
Speaking to media persons Youth Development Club president Oken said the protests will continue until the ILP system is implemented in the State.
Meanwhile, a public discussion session on the on-going issue of ILP was conducted at Uyumpok Leikai community hall today organised jointly by Awang Chingkhei Apunba Enat Kanba Lup and UDC, Uyumpok.
The meeting was graced by Ningthoujam Tomba, Soirenshangbam Mangijao, Khaidem Deben, Yumnam Jugeshwor and Heikrujam Thambaltombi.
Attended by about 30 villagers of the area, the public meeting unanimously decided to support the people's movement for ILP; demand resignation of Chief Minister Ibobi on moral ground for his failure to implement the system and also to oppose any form territorial threat that could arise from the Naga peace agreement signed between the NSCN-IM and the Government of India.
