KSO-SH asks Kukis to vacate Senapati

Imphal, December 26 2024:
The KSO Sadar Hills has asked all Kuki people including students to evacuate Senapati district immediately.
The Kuki students' body has also asked all Kuki people to halt travelling to Senapati for any reason (education, marketing, medical etc) until the unnecessary commotion caused by the Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) is resolved amicably.
It has advised all Kuki students to refrain from pursuing further education in Senapati.
A press release issued by the KSO Sadar Hills said that their advisory will remain in place until an understanding is reached between the Nagas of Senapati district and Kukis of Kangpokpi district.
|
It accused SDSA of not upholding the understanding and agreed position between the Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) and the Naga People's Organisation reached on November 21, 2024 .
As late night talks between CoTU and NPO yielded no positive results, SDSA volunteers detained Kuki individuals travelling home for Christmas and New Year celebrations at Mao Gate since December 23 despite requests for free passage.
Notably, three executive members of SDSA were assaulted by Kukis at Gamgiphai on December 22 evoking vehement condemnation from a score of Naga student bodies and civil society organisations.
