As part of the celebration, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh flagged off a bike rally from Kangla to spread the message of protecting Loktak Lake.
The bikers were felicitated by the organisers at the venue of the event.
People from the hill and valley districts also exchanged gifts as a gesture of friendship and unity.
Moreover, village headmen, chiefs and members of cultural troupes from the hill districts, who had come to attend Mera Hou Chongba, shared a meal with members of the Meitei community at a homestay at Loktak after taking a boat ride on the lake.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Robindro appreciated the Government's decision to elevate Loktak Day to a State-level event from this year onwards, stating that the initiative would help promote awareness about the importance of Loktak Lake and encourage collective efforts to preserve and protect the lake.
The MLA also said that a shrine dedicated to Loktak Ima would be constructed before next year's Loktak Day while announcing that he has donated a plot of his land at Keirenfabi to Loktak deity.
