Notice issued to vacate land

To develop Lishang Hiden and the samadhi of Maharaj Gambhir Singh at Canchipur, Chief Minister O Ibobi today convened a meeting to discuss the modalities for the development work while on the other hand, the Deputy Commissioner of Imphal East has issued an order to all the pattadars to vacate their land for the purpose of widening the National Highway from Canchipur bridge to Lilong bridge as well as to construct Lishang Hiden.
Apart from the Chief Minister the meeting was attended by Revenue Minister Th Debendra, Works Minister K Ranjit, Principal Secretary P Saratchandra, DGP Y Joykumar, DCs of Imphal East and West as well as the SPs of Imphal East and West.
The meeting deliberated at length on how to develop Lishang Hiden, widen the National Highway as well as develop the samadhi of Maharaj Gambhir Singh.
The samadhi of Maharaj Gambhir Singh will come up on an area of 2.48 acre of land and to acquire the land and compensate the pattadars, a sum of Rs 10 lakhs has been entrusted to the DC concerned.
Out of the total area of 65 acres of land needed for the construction of Lishang Hiden and widening the National Highway, 22 acres are Government khasland while for the remaining area, there are 17 pattadars.
To compensate the pattadars a sum of Rs 6 crores has been earmarked.
Meanwhile as the acquisition proceedings and award of compensation have been completed for the widening of NH-39 from Canchipur Bridge to Lilong Bridge and construction of Lishang Hiden, the Deputy Commissioner of Imphal East Y Thamkishore has issued an order directing the affected pattadars to vacate the site and remove any movable property out of the acquired land immediately or else force may be used to evict them.
The land has been taken over under section 16 of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894 .
