Landslides cut off roads, damage houses

Senapati/Kamjong, September 15 2025: Due to landslides, Senapati-Thonglang Road in Senapati district was cut off.

and a house at Kamjong was damaged this morning.

Reports of road sink have also come in from Ukhrul-Tolloi-Tadubi road near Shajouba and Vaisiichu and along Maram-Peren road, The landslides on Senapati-Thonglang Road reportedly carried away a Bolero vehicle.

The incident happened at around 4.30 am today when Wirikubou Pamai of Thonglang Akutpa village was taking an ailing family member on his Bolero to Senapati for treatment.

While the occupants escaped unhurt, the landslides carried away the vehicle.

On the other hand, Thonglang Atongba, Thonglang Akutpa and several villages in the region are reeling under complete darkness due to power outage since Saturday amid incessant rainfall.

Telecommunication cables have been reportedly snapped due to landslides, said sources.

In Kamjong, a landslide occurred at Louphong village at around 5 am and caused serious damage to at least two houses.

The landslide swept away a huge portion of one house belonging to one Lawrence Konghar and caused serious damage to other properties.

Konghar and his family members are taking refuge in temporary accommodation at the Louphong Club Hall, said Louphong V illage Authority.

The other house which was damaged by the landslide belongs to one Shangreihao Mung.

The village authority has appealed to the authorities concerned to provide immediate assistance to the affected families.
