Being a good human being is paramount : MLA Nishikant Sapam fetes toppers
Source: The Sangai Express

Imphal, July 11 2022: Keishamthong AC MLA Nishikant Singh Sapam has categorically stated that being a good human being is the paramount prerequisite for success in the field of education.

Three students of Keishamthong AC who made it to the top 25 merit list of High School Leaving Certificate Examination 2022 conducted by Board of Secondary Education Manipur were felicitated at the residence of Nishikant Sapam this evening.

Speaking at the gathering, Nishikant said that securing ranks in the merit list is academic success and academic success constitutes only 50 per cent of success in education.

For one to be more complete and successful, one has to have good manners and benevolence, he said.

All the academic successes are nothing if one does not have good manners, the MLA asserted.

Good manners and the character of being a good human being are two fundamental elements of education.

An educated person should work for the good of society.

In case he/she does not work for the good of society and is involved in corruption, he/she cannot be called educated even if they are qualified, Nishikant said.

Congratulating the students, the MLA wished that the students may be able to contribute in shaping the future of Manipur.

Speaking about his political journey, Nishikant said that he was able to reach the present position only because of the collective efforts of Team Nishikant.

Team Nishikant is currently engaged in different development works including desilting of Waisel Maril.

The team has been working actively after dividing the members into different departments, he said.

Noting that some people have been accusing him of staying aloof from the masses after the election was over, Nishikant said that it's time for action.

He said that construction/repairing of roads would not have started properly even within the Assembly segment of the PWD Minister.

Nishikant asserted that he would abide by the promises he made during the last Assembly election to stay away from corruption, contract works and fulfil other assurances.

Informing that a portion of the MLA Local Area Development Fund has been received, Nishikant said that the amount would be utilised in a transparent manner and its record would be put in black and white.

"The development works done earlier were done out of my own resources", he said.

Potable water, drainage system and roads are the main problems of Keishamthong AC, the local MLA said.

"My comments on the drainage system may sound offensive, but there is a need to create awareness among the people", he continued.

Pledging that he would work incessantly for the people, he appealed to all to wait for the next two years and a half.

Later, the MLA feted the meritorious students by presenting scarfs, bouquets and cash rewards.

The students feted today are 6th position holder Tripajita Laishram (Little Flower School) of Keishamthong Maning Longjam Leikai, 7th position holder Kerolina Yumnam (Little Flower School) of Pishumthong Oinam Leikai and 17th position holder Gagan Nepram (St Joseph Higher Secondary School) of Sagolband Nepra Menjor Mamang Leikai.

Commerce stream's 3rd position holder of HSE 2002 conducted by COHSEM Tongbram Luxmi was also felicitated at the same function.

Though Luxmi is a resident of Malom Keithel, she has been staying at Sega Road Konjeng Hazari Leikai.

Thingbaijam Premojit alias Opendro of Keishamthong Maning Longjam Leikai who won two gold medals and Senior Best Lifter of India 2022 title in the Senior National Powerlifting Championship held in Uttar Pradesh from June 20 to 22 was also felicitated.

Padmashree Wareppa Naba, IMC former Corporators Maisnam Joy, Oinam Romio and senior citizen Dr Joy attended the felicitation function as presidium members.
