A Sharda reaches New Delhi, likely to meet central leaders

Imphal, June 07 2025: BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda Devi reached the national capital on Friday and is likely to meet the party's central leadership to apprise them of the prolonged unrest in the state as well as the people's demand for a popular government in place of President's Rule, which is about to complete four months.

According to a reliable source, Sharda left Imphal for New Delhi on Friday and is reportedly preparing to meet BJP national president JP Nadda, national general secretary (organisation) BL Santosh, and national spokesperson and North East in-charge Sambit Patra.

The source further informed that Sharda is likely to apprise the central leaders about the resolution taken during a meeting of BJP MLAs held at the official residence of Thongju MLA Th Biswajit on May 30 .

She is likely to raise the issue of forming a popular government in the state, but there was no report of Sharda meeting any national leaders as of Saturday evening.

Notably, 10 MLAs of BJP and allied parties recently met Governor AK Bhalla amidst growing public demand for the formation of a popular government in the state.

The 10 MLAs claimed that 44 MLAs of BJP and allied parties are intact and indicated their willingness to form a popular government to the Governor.

Following that, the MLAs met BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda and discussed sending a proposal to the central leadership for government formation.

However, it is not yet clear what proposal Sharda would place before the central leadership.
