Sugnu, Moreh cases cited to brand AR pro-Kuki

Imphal, July 28 2024: Delhi Meitei Co-ordinating Committee's Women Wing, Khwairamband Ima Keithel Joint Co-Ordinating Committee for Peace and Imagi Meira convened a meeting of 'mothers' on the theme 'To End Siding with Kuki Militant' at Hao Ground Pishum Chinga Mathak on Sunday.

In her address, Imagi Meira convenor Th Sujata said that the statement made by the DG of AR on Kuki area is unacceptable, while questioning whether AR has already divided Manipur's territory.

In addition, the claim of AR's neutrality in the conflict is bogus, she said, and asked if a neutral force has the authority to block an operation of the state forces.

"Is AR going to claim that the viral video of an AR team blocking the Sugnu PS fake? Are the ridiculous actions of AR preventing the state forces from conducting an operation in Moreh and armed Kukis blocking an AR Casspir in connection with an incident in Moreh all false?" she questioned, while stating that one cannot speak lies and continue to claim the same as the truth.

Speaking on the occasion, Khwairamband Ima Keithel Joint Co-Ordinating Committee for Peace co-convener Y Ibeyaima contended that the so-called protective measures being advocated the AR is to call out the public from their residences and put them to relief camps to facilitate torching of the abandoned houses.

She continued that the government can no longer feign ignorance while occupying the seat of power but must take up the matter of removing AR from the state, resolving the conflict, resettlement of the displaced people and considering the situation of village volunteers during the upcoming session of the assembly.

Any failure to do so will render the session meaningless, she contended.

During the meeting, the mothers adopted resolutions to urge leader of the House to remove the ten Kuki MLAs if they fail to attend the upcoming session of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, provide sources of livelihood to village volunteers instead of arresting or harassing them, resettlement of the displaced people putting up in relief camps, demolition of all bunkers constructed with the support of Assam Rifles and withdrawal of Assam Rifles from Manipur.
