Imphal, December 26 2024:
Indigenous Mothers' Association Haomee (IMAH) contended that several villages in Kangpokpi district, including Laikot Kom, Purum Khullen, and Phaijol Kharam have been denied their share of NFSA rice from the past many months.
In a release, IMAH president Dr Sanatampha Rajkumari said that Laikot Phaizol Kharam village (52 household beneficiaries) and Laikot Kom village (40 household beneficiaries) are yet to avail benefits under NFSA since October, 2020 .
Moreover, for Purum village, the beneficiaries have not received their NFSA rice quota since July, 2023 after the agent collected the ration cards for renewal, she added.
The president reminded that a memorandum highlighting the issue of non-availability of NFSA rice for the three villages was submitted to CAF & PD minister L Susindro Meitei on October 9, 2024.However, despite the appeal, there is still no indication that the demand for distribution of NFSA rice will be met anytime soon, she rued.
Dr Sanatampha then urged chief minister N Biren Singh to look into the matter and initiate necessary steps to distribute the pending NFSA rice quotas to- the beneficiaries of the three villages.
