Windstorm wreaks havoc in Noney

Day after experiencing one of its hottest days with the mercury rising to 42.16 degrees Celsius on Friday, Noney district was hit by a strong windstorm and rainfall on Saturday, leading to temperature dipping to 25 degrees Celsius after the rains, although it was 37 degrees Celsius before the rain.
The rainfall rate in Noney district was recorded 3mm, and the wind speed reached 13 meters per second.
Normal life was severely affected in the district due to the strong windstorm with rain that occurred in the morning, and caused extensive damage to properties and horticultural farms.
Roofing sheets and temporary structures were blown away by the strong wind.
Banana and horticultural farms were damaged at many locations.
Electric poles were also damaged, disrupting power supply in the district.
Trees and bamboo were uprooted, and branches fell to the ground.
Harvesting of rice and other crops has been hit and disrupted by the strong wind and rain, leaving farmers worried about low yields.
