Dengue patient succumbs in Churachandpur

Altogether 38 Dengue cases have been detected in Churachandpur district as of October 18, 2023 with one succumbing to the disease on Wednesday.
The Dengue victim identified as VK Tonsing (83) of Pearsonmun village was confirmed of contracting the disease on October 13 and he was said to be suffering from Scrub Typhus as well.
According to the record maintained by District Malaria Department, Churachandpur since January, 2023, the number Dengue positive cases detected in the month of October reached 21 and there is high chance of increasing positive cases if the present trend continues.
Meanwhile, DM0 Dr Liangoumuan has informed that fogging has been conducted for 34 times in vulnerable areas and awareness on prevention of Dengue is continuing through different medium including TV talk show, press briefing and street corner meeting.
He also said survey for Dengue cases has been conducted 28 times at vulnerable places while awareness campaign has been conducted for 15 times so far with hve advertisements.
On the other hand, a total of 11 Scrub Typhus positive cases have been detected in Churachandpur during the year 2023 with three deaths.
The first Scrub Typhus positive case for the year 2023 was detected on February 5 at Lhangjol, where a 73-year old woman was detected with the disease.
It was followed by one case in April, three in July, two in August, two in September and two cases in October, record of the district malaria department said.
