Imphal, August 01 2024:
After initial exclusion from the list of centres for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Postgraduate (NEET-PG) examination by National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), the central government reinstated Imphal as one of the centres for the examination which is scheduled on August 11 .
Expressing gratitude to union health minister JP Nadda for the decision, CM N Biren Singh took to X (formerly Twitter) to acknowledge Nadda's support, stating, "I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Shri JP Nadda ji for reinstating the NEET-PG 2024 exam centre in Imphal".
"This crucial decision will enable students from the state to take the exam locally, significantly easing their path to academic and professional success," Biren said.
It may be mentioned here that the CM had previously communicated to the union health minister about the on-going unrest in Manipur and improvements made despite the challenges.
The exclusion from the list of test centres for NEET-PG had posed difficulties for local students due to restricted travel and high costs associated with out-of-state centres.
