Imphal, December 26 2024:
As elsewhere in the country, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) organised a centenary commemorative programme to celebrate the first Congress session held at Belagavi (now Belgaum), at Congress Bhawan, here on Thursday.
The celebration was attended by Lok Sabha ex-MP Dr Th Meinya, MPCC working president ex-MLA Md Fajur Rahim and other party leaders.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Meinya called upon the present generation not to forget the non-violence and non-cooperation movement.
He observed that adopting such movements will not only help in bringing about political freedom but also in safeguarding the cultural identity of each and every community.
Moreover, these movements could be instrumental in improving the economy of the country, he added.
Dr Meinya further noted that these movements are still applicable in modern India, especially Manipur, and added that the same would help bring about a solution to the present crisis.
He then informed that CLP leader O Ibobi, MPCC president K Meghachandra and other leaders would be discussing Manipur's issue with central leaders during the observance at Belgaum, Karnataka.
