Imphal, October 25 2026: A new workshed of Sapam Handloom, opened under Sapam Traders, was inaugurated today at Tera Sapam Leirak by Sapam Ongbi Ningolei, wife of Patsoi AC MLA Sapam Kunjakeshwor.

Proprietor of Sapam Traders, Sapam Somola said the workshed will mainly produce muga products for the public.

She expressed hope that the initiative will also support local weavers to some extent.

Training for weavers will also be provided at the workshed.

Somola said muga rearing is largely done in rural areas, but there is a need to expand the activity to urban areas as well, and the workshed has been opened with this objective.

She further said that Sapam Collection, run under Sapam Traders, offers handloom products made by artisans of the State and is offering discounts of 50, 30 and 20 percent on its products in view of Ningol Chakouba.
