Thunderstorm: Roofs blown away; properties damaged

Imphal, September 21 2024: After reeling under two days of high temperature, a thunderstorm that struck at around 11 am on Saturday blew away GI roofs of several houses and damaged properties at various parts of the state.

The thunderstorm caused damage to the GI roof of a house belonging to Yendrembam Shyamchand (48) of Wangjing SK Leikai and a shed (Sangoi) owned by Usharn Santi (60) of Kairembikhok Awang Leikai.

Damages to houses including blowing away of GI roofs were also reported in Yumnam Patlou under Khundrakpam assembly constituency.

Vehicular traffic movement also disturbed on Yairipok Ngari-yan road due to uprooting of trees growing by the road side.

Meanwhile, a quick response team of Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Thoubal District Branch visited Wangjing SK Leikai and provided tarpaulin to Y Shyarn-chand as immediate assistance for roofing of his house.
