Imphal, May 26 2025: Condemning the FIR lodged against prominent social activist Ashang Kasar by the Sangaikot Sub-Division Defence Committee (SSDDC), Churachandpur, the Imphal Naga Business Association (INBA) has demanded immediate withdrawal of the FIR by the relevant authorities.

Separately, the Tangkhul Naga Valley Students' Association (TNVSA) has condemned the alleged creation of a fake X (formerly Twitter) account impersonating Ashang Kasar, political analyst and the president of the Indigenous People's Forum, Manipur (IPFM) .

According to TNVSA, this malicious act led to the filing of the FIR by SSDDC against the social activist.

TNVSA urged the Government to take immediate and decisive action against the individuals or groups responsible for this reprehensible act while adding that the safer and harmony of the communities depend on swift measures to protect the leaders and hold accountable those who seek to sow division and chaos.

The student body asserted that the "fraudulent account" has been disseminating inflammatory statements designed to incite communal hatred, mislead the public, and tarnish the IPFM president's hard-earned reputation.

It added that the intent behind this impersonation is to exploit the current turmoil for ulterior motives, potentially exacerbating the conflict and instability in Manipur.

TNVSA has also extended solidarity to the IPFM president.

Meanwhile, INBA has termed SSDDC's complaint as "unfounded and baseless" and called upon the relevant authorities to withdraw the FIR and ensure that due process, fairness and rule of law are upheld.
