Missed Call drive in book form

The outcome and recommendation of the Mass Missed Call campaign launched to pursue inclusion of Meetei/Meitei in the ST list of the Constitution of India, has been compiled into a book and released, on Wednesday.
Representing the organisations demanding recommendations by the state government to the central government for inclusion of Meetei/Meitei in the ST list, Kangleipak Kanba Lup secretary general Luwangcha U Ngamkheilakpa released the book during a function held at Manipur Press Club, here, on Wednesday.
Addressing media persons after the function, Luwangcha said that the missed call campaign was launched jointly by World Meetei Council, Kangleipak Kanba Lup, Meitei Yaipha Lup (Europe), Meitei Diaspora (USA), Global Manipur Federation, Salaai Kanba Lup, Meetei (Meitei) Tribe Union and STDC to seek public opinion over the need for including Meeteis in the ST list of the Indian Constitution for safeguarding the Meeteis.
He further informed that the campaign, which ran from November 21 to December 31, 2023 evoked positive response from over 10 lakh people.
Based on the public opinion, it was determined that the inclusion of Meeteis in the ST list is the most effective way to safeguard Meetei interests.
This final outcome and recommendation have been compiled into a book released Wednesday.
A copy of the book will be presented to the chief minister on the same day, he informed.
Ngamkheilakpa also said that Meeteis are facing dire situation.
Amidst the challenges of survival in this competitive world, the only viable solution is the inclusion of Meeteis in the ST list for which government of Manipur needs to swiftly send the recommendation to the central government, he suggested.
