Jiribam, September 21 2024:
Armed Kuki militants continued to attack Mongbung Meetei Village in Jiribam on Friday making it the tenth time to launch attack at the village.
At around 9.20 pm on Friday, heavily armed Kuki militants rained down bombs and gunshots from Mongbung and Seijang Kuki village towards Mongbung Meetei Village.
The village volunteers defending Mongbung Meetei village and the state forces deployed in the area retaliated by firing several rounds.
Later, CRPF in the area also joined in the retaliation against Kuki militants.
The exchange of fire continued till 5 am of Saturday.
Though there is no injury among the Meetei village volunteers, it is expected that there might be some casualties on the side of Kuki militants.
Even though Meetei never went and attacked the Mongbung and Seijang Kuki village, Kuki militants have been attacking the Meetei village using bombs and guns repeatedly.
Denouncing the government for being a mute spectator when Kuki militants are attacking, the villagers have questioned how long the people have to bear such attacks and further posed whether the government is waiting for the death of all the Meetei people.
Kuki militants passed though the areas of central forces while coming to attack the Meetei village using bombs and guns.
After the Meetei village volunteers retaliated and disallowed them to enter the village, Kuki militants returned by passing through areas of central forces again,
the villagers denounced.
