Imphal, October 19 2023:
Apart from reacting sharply to the Congress party's accusation that the organisation was acting like a mouth piece of BJP, All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has said that MPCC president K Meghachandra's media statement regarding organisation's ultimatum for clarification on Rahul Gandhi's remark on Manipur crisis was aimed at saving the party's high command.
According to a statement of AMUCO, MPCC president's media statement not only undermined the people's sentiment but also did not discuss fully organisation's point of view on the matter and AMUCO will not accept such statement from the Congress party under any circumstance.
There is no need for discussing other parts of Rahul Gandhi's statement made during an election rally in Mizoram but pick and discuss only the part which hurts sentiments of the people of Manipur, AMUCO affirmed, adding that the organisation is fully committed to fighting any organisation or political party which works against the interest of the people.
While recalling Rahul Gandhi's statement 'Manipur is no longer one state, it is divided into two states', AMUCO said that the organisation does not want to hurl accusations like political parties but will talk and discuss on specific point and the MPCC president should understand that AMUCO was reacting to Rahul Gandhi's statement only.
In fact, the word or sentence used by Rahul Gandhi was the propaganda frequently used by those trying to disintegrate Manipur and Rahul Gandhi's use of such word was akin to directly or indirectly supporting the force trying to break apart Manipur, AMUCO asserted and warned against politicisation of AMUCO's word to save or cover-up Rahul Gandhi's statement.
Asking as to why the MPCC president viewed organisation's word as mouth piece of BJP or whether the slur was merely for reacting to Rahul Gandhi's statement, it said that if AMUCO is being viewed as a mouth piece of BJP then there is no denial MPCC could be viewed as a secret agent of those trying to disintegrate Manipur.
Further asking if MPCC viewed Rahul Gandhi's statement as right or accepted it by the party, AMUCO said that MPCC should publicly declare whether it will clarify on Rahul Gandhi's, statement or not.
