Will serve public by becoming doctor: NEET-UG topper

Erwin Khundrakpam of Khangabok Meishnam Leikai - who is the state topper in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) -2025 conducted by National Testing Agency with Rank 3706 (99.8294 per cent) - has shared his desire to become an exceptional doctor to serve the public.
Erwin is the son of Gopimohon Khundrakpam, a government teacher at Sangaiyumpham Higher Secondary School and Kh (o) Romila Devi, who works as a bench reader at the Thoubal Court.
Speaking to media persons at his residence on Saturday, Erwin Kh disclosed that he first appeared for NEET-UG in 2023 and again in 2024 but was not able to qualify.

In his third attempt, he was confident that he would clear the test and it was a big surprise that he emerged as the state topper when the result were declared on Saturday, which has doubled his joy.
Giving the credit of his success to his parents, his teachers and friends, he also expressed his gratitude to Laishram Krishnakanta Singh of Chemistry One Stop Solution, Keishampat Aheibam Leirak and Physics teacher Birjit for their guidance.
Erwin continued that his practicing with test series of COMET coaching centre has also helped him prepare for the test.
Talking about the difficulties faced due to the ongoing conflict in the state, Erwin stated that this year he faced fewer problems, but last year he had to go to Delhi to take the test.
He also appealed for resolving of the ongoing turmoil in the state at the earliest for the sake of future of students.
On the other hand, Gopimohon Kh and Kh Romila expressed happiness for their son and wished for him to become a very good doctor in future, while also thanking their son's teacher L Krishnakanta for his guidance.
Erwin completed his Class X at Sangaiyumpham Higher Secondary School and passed Class XII at Herbert School, after which he began studying for NEET-UG.
Meanwhile, teachers of Erwin from COMET coaching centre, where he studied, visited him at his home to congratulate him after learning that he topped the entrance test in the state.
On the other hand, COMET coaching centre has expressed immense pride for its student Erwin Khundrakpam for securing first position in the state in the NEET-UG 2025 examination.
He achieved an outstanding 99.8294 percentile, placing him at All-India Rank 3706 in the OBC-NCL (Central List) category.
In a release, COMET coaching centre said that Erwin's outstanding performance in the NEET-UG by scoring 579 out of possible 720 marks has brought accolades not only to his family but also to the coaching institute that guided his preparation journey.
