Cabinet approves renaming of 15 Jiribam villages

The state cabinet has approved a fund of Rs 10 crore for upgrading college infrastructure under its new mission 'College Fagathansi', renaming of 15 villages in Jiribam district and service extension as contractual engagement of two retired Group A employees of MSPCL in the grade of Executive Director and General Manager among other decisions.
The cabinet meeting chaired by chief minister N Biren held at the CM's secretariat on Tuesday from 10 am to 2 pm discussed about 50 agendas, both listed and unlisted.
Continuing the government's initiative towards developing education sector, Tuesday's cabinet approved recruitment of 1140 pre-primary teachers under SSA scheme under Centre-State funding ratio of 90:10.Besides, the Cabinet meeting approved recruitment of 500 graduate teachers against the 210 posts approved by the Centre.
The Centre-State fund ing ratio for the 210 approved posts is also 90:10.Interacting with the media after the cabinet meeting, IPR minister and government spokesperson Dr Sapam Ranjan said that Tuesday's cabinet also discussed the revised budget, budget estimate, financial statement, budget at a glance and appropriation bills, which would be introduced in the upcoming budget session of the state legislative assembly.
Informing about the approval of renaming of 15 villages in Jiribam district, the minister said that as per the cabinet decision, Bakhal will be renamed as Ningthem Khunjao, Champanagar Meitei as Leihaopokpi, Patchao as Chingdong Leikai, Kadamtala as Kadampokpi, Boroikhal as Khongjao, Sabughat as Sabuthokpi, Babukal as Chingkoipung, Narando Basa as Leingangpokpi, Gularthol as Samupunbi, Hilghat as Lamlen Atingbi, Bidyanagar as Mahei Khullen, Harinagar as Lamnoupokpi, Uchathol as Landangkhun, Kamranga as Khuningthek and Sorok Atingbi Khunou as Khunou.
Observing how the common people suffer loss after investing in some financial institutions, the cabinet approved re-engagement of an assistant director and a UDC to strengthen directorate of institutional finance, and to open a cell called Banning of Unregulated Deposit Scheme (BUDS), the spokesperson conveyed.
The cabinet also approved re-engagement of Ph Agang Kabui, Thongram Brojendro and Elangbam Kamal of the department of taxation as superintendent of taxes for six months.
It also approved engagement of three legal assistants in the office of advocate general of Manipur, and appointment of retired executive engineer (civil) of MANIDCO namely N Biren as consultant of Eklavya Model Residential School Project.
It further approved re-engagement of comptroller of household establishment of Raj Bhavan N Nilamani for one year, absorption of RD&PR executive engineer Kh Rajendro in MOBEDS to the post of executive engineer, and service extension of former chief executive officer of Smart City Harikumar, the spokesperson informed.
Dr Ranjan also disclosed that Tuesday's cabinet has also approved direct purchase of 50 acres of land on the southern and western sides of Sangai Ethnic Park at Moirang Khunou for further expansion of the park.
It also approved acquisition of a 7.35 acre area to expand Manipur Zoological Garden.
The cabinet also approved Manipur Public Procurement Policy - Preference to Make in Manipur 2022, and to prioritise local entrepreneurs while floating tenders under the policy.
It also approved formation of aboard to look after the temple at Kaina.
Creation of 77 posts for seven new districts was also approved by the cabinet, he added.
The minister said that the cabinet consented to implementation of Vehicle Scrapping policy to dispose of vehicles older than 15 years, setting up of registered vehicle scrapping facilities and Automated Testing Stations (ATSs).
It further approved framing of a pol icy to implement use of local handloom and handicraft products in government offices, establishments, schools, colleges, universities, hospitals and hotels under the state government, the minister added.
