A proposal of the state police department seeking relaxation to the compulsory drawal of monthly salaries of the all state government employees through bank account has been turned down by a high level meeting held under the chair of the state chief secretary, Rakesh.
Mention may be made that Manipur government, most importantly, in a bid to check cutting percentage from its employees by the militant outfits at various distributing points and to improve banking facilities has decided to disburse monthly salaries of the employees through personnel bank accounts.
State government also issued order to start the payment through bank account from this current month, May stating that those employees with no pay account will not be given the pay hence forth.
Citing various reasons like inconvenient of opening personnel accounts by the personnel of the department, police department recently requested the higher authorities of the government to give relaxation specially for the employees of the police department.
The high level meeting convened today under the chair of the state chief secretary Rakesh today discussed the matter thoroughly.
Among others the meeting was attended by additional chief secretary, DS Poonia and principle secretary (finance) Jhah.
After a long deliberation on the matter, the meeting decided to reject the proposal of the state police department, official source said.
