Governor, CM, others extend Gaan Ngai greetings

Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, chief minister N Biren Singh and others have extended greetings and best wishes to the people of Manipur, particularly Zeliangrong brethren on the joyous and auspicious occasion of Gaan Ngai, 2025.In a message, the Governor stated that Zeliangrong community celebrates the "Gaan Ngai" which is the "Festival of Winter Season" for paying obeisance and homage to those departed souls who left this temporal world in the year before.
The festival also symbolises bidding adieu to the old year gone by and heralding a New Year, with full of hope and aspiration.
"Let us all join the celebration of Gaan Ngai in a spirit of friendship and brotherhood with traditional gaiety and devotion and ring in the New Year for a peaceful and prosperous Manipur" he said.
In separate messages, chief minister N Biren Singh and Rural Development & PR/MAHUD minister also extended the Gaan-Ngai greetings and best wishes to the people of Manipur.
"During the festival, the community show their gratitude, with offerings to the almighty for the good harvest and also pray for a better and prosperous life in the coming year," they said, while praying that may the festival shower goodwill and happiness, and spread the message of unity, peace, and brotherhood amongst all communities of the state.
Meanwhile, All Manipur Ethnical Socio-Cultural Organisation (AMESCO), in a release, greeted the people on the occasion of Gaan Ngai festival.
AMESCO informed that it will organise a gift exchange at Sawombung Kabui Khunjao, Sawombung Sairen, Duigaipangjang, and Mahabali Kabui Khun to convey the message of a collective effort in fighting against the forces disrupting the region.
