IMI 5.0 launched across state

Health minister Dr Sapam Ranian Singh on Monday launched the Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 5.0 campaign as the chief guest at the conference hall of JNIMS, Porompat Imphal East.
Speaking at the launch event, which was jointly organised by State Health Society, National Health Mission (SHS-NHM), Manipur and Directorate of Health Services; Dr S Ranjan informed that immunisation of children is necessary in order to protect them from diseases and also keep other children healthy by eliminating or reducing dangerous diseases.
While it has become easier to keep records of immunisation with the advancement of technology through U-WIN application, the data also needs to be maintained for future references, he stated.
He maintained that the immunisation programme should be conducted, adhering to the proper guidelines prescribed by the Ministry of Health.
The frontline health staff and volunteers are required to follow the proper guidelines and proper training of the staff is also required in order to fulfil the objective of the campaign, he asserted.
Dr S Ranjan also highlighted the important role played by the frontline health staff and health volunteers during the COVID pandemic.
We need to have the idea of the use of digital platform these days.
As such, all should give their best efforts during times of any health crisis, he said and appealed to all concerned to be proactive to achieve the targeted goal.
Secretary/commissioner (Health) PK Jha (IAS), National Health Mission, Manipur SMD Dr Somorjit Ningombam; JNIMS director Dr L Deven Singh and medical superintendent Dr Kh Lokeshwar attended the event as president and guests of honour respectively.
On the other hand, Kang pokpi Deputy Commissioner Mahesh Chaudhari launched the first phase of IMI 5.0 campaign at the office of the District Immunisation Officer (DIO), District Hospital on Monday.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Lamkhoneng Haokip, DIO Dr Eunice Haokip and teams of Health Department were also present at the launch programme, which was jointly organised by Family Welfare Department and District Health Society (DHS), Kangpokpi.
Speaking to the District Information Officer (IPR) regarding the immunisation campaign, DIO Dr Eunice Haokip informed that the health teams are targeting to cover 23,000 children aged between 0-5 years and more than 2,000 pregnant women under the IMI 5.0 drive.
She informed that all the health workers have already been given training on August 5 for the campaign.
Meanwhile, DHS Senapati also launched IMI 5.0 under Universal Immunisation Programme (UIP) at DIEC Centre, near District Hospital on Monday.
The launching function was attended by DC Senapati Mamoni Doley and the CMO of Senapati.
Similarly, Thoubal DC Ah-anthem Subhash launched IMI 5.0 campaign at Wangjing Kodompokpi Relief Camp on Monday, in the presence of District Family and Welfare officer Dr Ksh Memcha and staff.
In this regard, DC Subhash said that the public can get inoculated on any other day aside from the provided dates for the three rounds.
With regard to Thoubal district, around 82 per cent of the children have already been fully immunised.
As such, efforts are being taken up to fully immunise around 95 per cent in IMI 5.Q, he said and appealed to parents/guardians to inoculate their children (0-5years) during the campaign.
Meanwhile, Kakching CMO Thoudem Rajen launched the first phase of IMI 5.0 during a function organised by DHS Kakching at Hiyanglam Mayai Leikai under PHC Hiyanglam on Monday.
The function was attended by District Family Welfare officer Dr Elangbam Kiran; Medical Officer (Immunisation) Dr Ksh Sumati and DPH-NO Kakching W Hemabati.
It may be mentioned here that IMI 5.0 will be conducted in three rounds.
The first round will be conducted from August 7-12, second round from September 11-16 and the third round from October 9-14.A target has been set a target to inoculate 46,561 pregnant women and 3,48,023 children (0-5years) during the campaign.
The three round immunisation programme will ensure that every child (0-5years) and pregnant women receive life-saving vaccines and those who might have missed any vaccine doses in the national immunisation schedule earlier, so as to help them fight against as many as 12 diseases.
The campaign also aims to achieve Measles & Rubella elimination in the country by ensuring that every' child under 5 years of age has completed the two-dose schedule of Measles and Rubella Containing Vaccine (MRCV) .
