Ram Krishna Higher Secondary School at Ghari Mamang Leikai was found locked today allegedly by cadres of KCP (MC), Lamyanba Khuman, in connection with monetary demand made to the school authorities.
The school was found locked this morning when the students came for their classes.
Reacting against closing down of the school, students and staffs of the school staged a sit-in-protest demonstration in front of the school today.
Speaking to media on the sidelines of the protest demonstration, Oinam Jawan, Principal of the school, said that a few days back he received a call from KCP (MC), Lamyanba Khuman asking him whether he received the demand letter given to the school authorities some 20 days back.
As he did not have any knowledge about it, he informed them that no demand letter had been received.
Later on, he began to receive threatening calls from the UG group and as such he was compelled to put his phone in the switch off mode.
In the meantime, the school authorities were discussing the matter and the problems that would be faced by the students in future because of such threat when the school was found locked by the militant group today, the principal said.
He further stated the monetary demand of around Rs 30/40 lakhs made to the school which does not even have a proper compound is very unfortunate.
Such demands could bring down the school to an irreparable situation and the career of the students could be destroyed.
Meanwhile, on hearing the news of the closure of the school by KCP (MC), Lamyanba Khuman, thus, depriving right to education to the students, members of Manipuri Students' Federation, Reformist Student's Front and Ghari Apunba Meira Paibi rushed in and broke the lock to open the school.
