Civil bodies continue pro-ILP protest

Imphal, July 26 2015:
UPF, NIPCO, CADA, MAPI Council, AMPFA, AMSU, UPACO, Nupi Samaj, AMKIL, Tami � Chingmi, Macha Leima, Eechal, NIMPAL, NLANL, ANUL and KKSSNL together staged a massive sit-in protest demanding implementation of a proper Inner Line Permit system to safeguard the indigenous people of the State.
Th Ramani president Nupi Samaj said that even if the Government assured a proper law to safeguard the indigenous population of the State, the people have little faith in them and therefore the protests for a people-friendly bill will continue until the State Government implemented a law in the interest of the public.
The sit-in protest also demanded the incorporation of the five points put up by JCILPS and befitting punishment to police personnel involved in the killing of Sapam Robinhood, a class eleven student protestor from Ananda Singh Higher Secondary Academy.
Ramani continued that so far three students have been killed since 1980 in police action while staging democratic protests.
Md Yaima of United Peoples' Front who was also participating in the sit �in protest said that if the five points put up by the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System are not included in the new bill which is going to be drafted by the drafting committee there will be more agitation as people want a concrete law to safeguard the indigenous people of the State.
Meanwhile the road from Khuman Lampak Bus Parking to Khurai Salanthong remained blocked on Sunday.
A lady street vendor of Khuman Lampak Apunba Street Vendors said that they will continue their agitation until the police personnel involved in the killing of Sapam Robinhood are booked and a people-friendly ILPS is implemented in the State.
