MSC/CPI hosts condolence meeting

Imphal, July 29 2025: Manipur State Council, Communist Party of India organised a condolence meeting to mourn the passing of theatre icon Ratan Thiyam at Irawat Bhavan today.

The condolence meeting was presided over by Leishangthem Thoiren, former State secretary, CPI.

CPI leaders Dr M Nara Singh, A Nabachandra and Maisnam Joykumar Luwang delivered speeches recalling the life and works of the late director and playwright of Chorus Repertory Theatre.

The condolence meeting also mourned the recent passing of CPI leader and former Chief Minister of Kerala VS Achuthanandan and noted political commentator E Sonamani.

It was noted during the meeting that party leaders Dr M Nara Singh, L Sotinkumar, M Joykumar Luwang and S Sorojini had visited the families of the deceased and conveyed their solidarity during this hour of grief.
