Imphal, May 28 2024:
Former chief minister O Ibobi Singh has said that the biggest fear of the BJP government both at the Centre and in the state is the Congress party.
To welcome former minister Samuel Jendai, former BJP candidate for Uripok AC Dr N Dwijamani and social worker TP Daining into the Congress fold on Tuesday, MPCC organised a felicitation programme at Congress Bhawan during which Ibobi said that there could be no second fear of the BJP government than the Congress
party.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah as well as chief minister N Biren seem to be haunted by the Congress party every day as could be comprehended from BJP leaders not sparing any moment to shift blame on the opposition parties.
Regardless of their scathing remarks, seemingly aimed at covering up their administrative shortcomings and failure to translate their various assurance given to the masses into action, Congress leaders do not accord much importance to the BJP leaders' daily dose of criticism these days as it is now certain that their outburst is out of fear for the Congress party, maintained the three-time chief minister.
According to Ibobi, PM Narendra Modi's first term began in 2014 but the irony is that BJP leaders nowadays are spreading false propaganda as if they have been ruling the country since independence and trying to remain in power by lying to the people.
However, people of the country are not fools and they are completely aware of the BJP's cheap propaganda, Ibobi said, adding that parliamentary election of 2024 will bring a change in the country and people are expecting change of regime.
The Congress is the oldest political party in India and took important role in driving the British out from the country.
Accordingly, experts have pointed out that the history of modern India is similar to the history of Congress party, Ibobi said and welcomed the new entrants to the party.
In his address, MPCC president K Meghachandra said that people of Manipur are suffering for more than one year but the BJP government both at the Centre and in the state are still unable to bring peace and end the suffering of the people.
He also said that the silence of PM Modi on Manipur crisis shows his disregard and disrespect to the people of Manipur.
The felicitation function was also attended Congress MLAs, former deputy CM Gaikhangam and former Congress MLAs.
