Noney, December 26 2024:
Christmas, commemorating the birth of Lord Jesus Christ, was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety in Noney district on Wednesday, as in other parts of the world.
From the early morning hours, worshippers gathered at Christmas celebration halls, offering contributions in cash or kind as acts of devotion.
The events featured the sharing of Gospel sermons, musical presentations, and worship sessions exalting the Lord Jesus Christ, who was born in Bethlehem some 2,000 years ago to bring salvation to sinners.
Celebrations include community singing, entertainment programmes, choral song performances, and the singing of carols at various venues.
The second and final day of Christmas in Longmai area, was marked by conduct of a variety of programmes, including games that highlighted the region's rich cultural heritage.
Speaking to the media, G Shakti, pastor of Longmai Town Baptist Church, shared that this year's Christmas celebration was held under the theme 'Amazing Grace', emphasising the incarnation of Lord Jesus Christ, who came into the world to save sinners and offer eternal life.
Pastor Shakti noted that this year's celebration held special significance compared to previous years, as it focused on spiritual renewal and fostering a closer relationship with God.
As part of the celebration, which underscored the true essence of Christmas, sweets and other edibles were distributed to members of the non-Christian community temporarily residing in Longmai Bazar, including those from other states engaged in business and other professions.
