Imphal, May 22 2024:
Molnoi Areas Welfare Council (MAWC) contended that the reports of peace prevailing in Pallel area are fake and malicious, intended to cause the withdrawal of central forces deployed in Pallel.
A press statement of MAWC referred to a viral video and an exclusive news report by NE Live, along with some local news channels, where some individuals, allegedly under the influence of alcohol and of unsound mind, from Sita and Chahmol villages, made a press interview at Pallel Bazar.
They falsely declared the prevalence of peace in and around Pallel, the statement said while condemning the remark as false.
The Council asserted that since the escalation of the violence, peace has never been witnessed in the area.
It also highlighted a recent incident where a woman from Molnoi area, who went to buy vegetables at Pallel Bazar on her Activa scooty, was caught by some miscreants and was nearly kidnapped, although she managed to escape.
Her Activa, however, was forcefully taken by miscreants.
MAWC narrated another incident where an Eeco van belonging to a Kuki-Zo individual was forcefully taken by miscreants while it was parked at Pallel Bazar near the police station.
The masked miscreants have repeatedly threatened to kill Kuki-Zo individuals visiting Pallel Bazar, the statement alleged.
The Council appealed to the public, highlighting that incidents of this nature frequently occur.
The presence of central security forces at Pallel Bazar has made the market appear peaceful, which sometimes misleads people, particularly Kuki-Zo individuals, into believing it is safe to visit.
MAWC clarified that the three individuals who participated in the press interview at Pallel Bazar were not from Molnoi area.
They were from other villages and went to Pallel Bazar unaware of the situation, rushing to the market for locally made liquor.
After consuming liquor, they were interviewed by some reporters, despite being in an unsound state of mind.
The Council appealed to the public not to be misled by the false claims of peace in Pallel Bazar, labelling it a sinister design to prompt the withdrawal of central security forces from the buffer zone.
