Imphal, June 09 2025:
The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, has appealed to all groups concerned and the public to refrain from obstructing the movement of healthcare personnel, ambulances, water tankers, and other essential services associated with RIMS during the ongoing bandh.
In a press release issued on Monday, RIMS stated that as a premier tertiary care hospital and academic institute serving the people of Manipur and the North East region, it operates round-the-clock to provide critical medical care, particularly emergency and life-saving services.
The, smooth movement of doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, and support personnel is essential to maintaining uninterrupted patient care.
Any restriction on their mobility directly affects the treatment of patients, including those in the ICU, emergency wards, operating theatres, and COVID-19 units.
RIMS further stressed, the importance of allowing ambulances transporting critically ill patients and water tankers supplying essential resources to pass without delay.
These services, it stated, are not only urgent but often a matter of life and death.
The institute earnestly called on all stakeholders to show humanitarian consideration by exempting medical services, staff, and related support systems from any bandh-related restrictions.
RIMS concluded by noting that the community's cooperation is indispensable in ensuring that essential healthcare services continue without interruption, especially for those in most urgent need.
