Imphal, April 09 2010:
Anouncing continuation of its agitation, a functionary of the JAC for 2006/2009 ADC DPC Faced Candidates' Parents and Guardians, Manipur has alleged that declaration of the DPC result of primary teachers is being deliberately deferred as the Congress aims to reap political gain in the Autonomous district Council (ADC) elections.
Addressing newspersons at Manipur Press Club, here today, JAC member Chungsat Khongsai claimed of getting feedbacks from Congress party leaders that declaration of the DPC results would depend on the mandate of the forthcoming ADC elections.
Accusing the Congress party of compromising interest and sentiment of the DPC faced candidates, Chungsat alleged that Congress leaders had been insisting upon the candidates to ensure victory of Congress nominees in the ADC elections after which the DPC result would be declared.
He also affirmed that inspite of the 72 hours bandh call set to end this tonight there would be no leniency as the JAC is determined to sustain the movement against the Government till the demand for declaring DPC result has been honoured.
Castigating the Congress party for abusing power and alleged intention to bargain for political mileage by depriving deserving candidates their rights, the JAC member also reminded that as announced earlier, economic blockade would come into effect from midnight (april 9) .
Construing that overwhelming support extended to the JAC bandh call is due to genuineness of the demand, Chungsat also appealed to transport operators to cooperate for successful enforcement of the economic blockade.
Announcing relaxation on movement of vehicles and personnel in the essential services sector including medical, fire service and water supply, he also suggested that vehicles engaged in the transportation of print and electronic media materials display signs in a vivid way.
Reacting to publication of a news report of Autonomous District Council Primary Teachers 2009 DPC Faced Candidates' Association which was issued by one T Haopu claiming to be information and Publicity secretary of the Association, Chungsat said neither is the individual concerned traceable nor does the Association exist.
Contending that attempts are being made to divert attention as well as confuse the general public by issuing flimsy statements by non-existent body, he expressed that connivance between Tribal Development Minister DD Thaisii and T Haopu to undermine the well-supported agitation of the JAC could not be ruled out.
Branding T Haopu as a decoy in the Government's alleged attempt to dampen spirit of JAC activists, Chungsat said such a ploy would fail as had been demonstrated today when the District Council Hall in Churachandpur district headquarters was locked and sealed.
Informing that Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, who was scheduled to inaugurate the hall today had to shelve the programme apprehending problem, the JAC member reiterated that till the JAC demands are conceded there is no question of agitation relaxation.
