Matric exam begins at 192 centres, one expelled

Imphal, April 05 2022: The annual High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination, 2022 commonly referred to as matriculation exam conducted by Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM) commenced from Tuesday with strict adherence to COVID-19 protocol.

One candidate has been expelled for impersonation on the first day of the examination.

According to controller of examinations L Mangi Singh, the can didate bearing roll number 40614 was expelled from the Yumnam Huidrom Government School examination centre in an impersonation case.

Altogether 39,764 candidates, including 20,401 males, are appearing the exam at 192 different centres spread across the state.

All these candidates will sit for the exam for six subjects till April 26 .

Of the total candidates, 8543 belong to government schools, 1652 to aided schools and 29,569 candidates are of private schools.

Though the exam started from 9am at all the centres, parents of majority of candidates were seen gathered near examination centres from 8am till completion of the exam at noon while candidates and examinations officials were seen enforcing COVID-19 safety guidelines during the exam.

In view of public curfew announced by ASUK, which is a conglomerate of outlawed KYKL and KCP, around examinations centres to ensure that the examination is conducted in its true spirit, necessary security arrangements were made by state police to prevent unwanted incident around examination centres.

Altogether 74 flying squad teams of BSEM inspected the examination centres while volunteers of student bodies and civil society organisations also helped BSEM officials in ensuring free and fair conduct of the examination.

Mention may be made here that around 47,000 candidates who enrolled for matric exam in 2021 were promoted due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Syllabus for the ongoing exam too has been shortened as physical classes could not be conducted during the pandemic.

SENAPATI: Altogether 1,936 candidates are appearing the HSLC-2022 exam at 10 different exam centres in the district.

The centres include Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Maram; Mao-Maram Higher Secondary School, Tadubi; Sardar Patel High School, Mao; Okai Academy, Mao; Bethany Higher Secondary School, Rikhumai Taphou, Senapati; St Anthony's School, Rikhumai Taphou; Lao Radiant Higher Secondary School, Vakho, Karong; Grace English School, Karong; DV School, Senapati; and Purul Higher Secondary School, Purul.

Five exam centres are in Senapati town while the remaining five are situated outside the district headquarters.

Senapati DC had earlier imposed restrictions under Section 144 CrPC in and around the exam centres of the district to ensure smooth conduct of the exam.

ZEO Senapati Solomon L inspected the conduct of the exam by visiting various centres.

Student leaders of Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) and its federating units also scanned different exam centres to ensure free and fair conduct of the exam.

After the inspection, SDSA president Pung Mark told media persons that the exam is going on peacefully.

He advised candidates against using unfair means in the exam as it is considered very important in their career.

Pung Mark stated that the environment is very peaceful and the student body is ever ready to assist in any circumstances, adding the board exam will decide many things in a student's life.

JIRIBAM: The BSEM-conducted matric exam commenced from Tuesday at three centres in the district.

Altogether, 622 candidates were enrolled for the exam but 27 of them were absent on the first day.

The candidates are giving the exam at three exam centres namely Jiribam Higher Secondary School, Kasturba Girls' High School and Borobekra Higher Secondary School.

While district police are taking up strict security measures to prevent unwanted incident during the exam, teachers were seen conducting body search of candidates before allowing them to enter the examination halls so as to prevent use of unfair means in the exam.

On the first day of the exam, there was no report of any unwanted incident happening.

NONEY: Like in other parts of the state, HSLC-2022 examination conducted by BSEM, commenced peacefully in Noney district on Tuesday.

In all five Board exam centres have been opened in the district at Tengkongjang Higher Secondary School, Longmai; Sharon English High School, Longmai bazar; Nungba Higher Secondary school; Khangshillung Higher Secondary School, Khoupum and Don Bosco School, Khoupum.

The total number of students registered for appearing the exam in Noney district is 693 .

Speaking to The People's Chronicle, Tengkongjang Higher Secondary school exam OC Gaichui Malangmei informed that the first day of the exam was conducted smoothly without any problem.

At Tengkongjang Higher Secondary School, altogether, 322 students from nine different schools were enlisted to appear the exam.

However, seven of them were absent on the first day.

In all, 20 teachers are being utilised as invigilators, he added.

MOREH: The matric exam conducted by BOSEM commenced without any report of untoward incident at two examination centre in the border town of Moreh.

Altogether, 174 candidates including 93 females were enrolled for the exam but three were absent on the first day.

The candidates are giving exam at Moreh Government higher secondary school and ST George high school examination centres.

All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) Tengnoupal district committee and Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) Moreh block volunteers inspected the exam at both the centres to ensure smooth conduct of the exam.

Moreh police too took up security measure for smooth conduct of the exam.
