Bishnupur, July 21 2015 :
Hundreds of women representing various organisations, tribes and communities held a massive sit-in protest against the State Government's attitude towards dealing with the Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) demand from 11 am till 4 pm at Bishnupur Bazar on Tuesday.
The women demanded a Bill fulfilling all the points made by Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) at the earliest and resented the State Government's delaying tactics of not tabling the Bill.
While strongly condemning the killing of Sapam Robinhood, the women also demanded the unconditional release of students who had been held by police personnel.

Speaking on the occasion, woman activist and leader Lourembam Ongbi Nganbi said the State Government had completely twisted the points and demands made by JCILP in the earlier Bill after showing its commitment to introduce same to protect the indigenous communities of Manipur.
She reiterated that all the points made by JCILPS should be included in the proposed new Bill to be drafted without any misinterpretation.
Nganbi asserted that the Bill should protect the indigenous people instead of protecting the migrants.
Different communities from various villages in and around Bishnupur Headquarters participated in the sit-in protest including Lumlangdong Apunba Nupi Lup and Keithel Chaokhat Thoudang Nupi Lup, Bishnupur.
Later, a massive human chain was formed wherein the women shouted slogans against the Government's inaction.
