Rally against educational negligence fruitful: JSB

The Joint Students' Body, Lamka (JSB) said that it had a fruitful and in-depth discussion with representatives of schools which did not take part the rally against educational negligence held in Churachandpur town on Saturday.
According to a JSB statement, more than 20,000 students took part the rally but students of some schools did not turn up for the same despite serving invitation.
Sensing non-participation of the rally as lack of commitment towards cause of future of Kuki-Zo students which warranted explanation, the matter was discussed on Monday with representatives of the schools concerned.
During the discussion, representatives of some schools appreciated initiative of JSB and explained reasons for their absence.
Some reasons for non-participation included unavoidable issues such as communication gaps and outstation of school owners, the JSB said adding that another reason was KSO Churachandpur's request to schools not to take part in the meeting called by JSB.
While stating that some student bodies have become tools in the hands Of adversaries to derail its movement, the JSB statement appealed all to keep in mind that students and education related matters transcend tribe and functional areas.
It also said that JSB is bound neither by functional areas nor community and it will continue to take up all education related matters irrespective of tribe or place.
According to the JSB, the press statement issued by additional secretary (higher & technical education) addressing various student related issues can be regarded as a step forward and an impact of the overwhelming rally on Saturday and the development can be seen as a short-term measure addressing some of the immediate needs of the students.
The JSB maintained that it will continue to pursue the goal of total separation and continue to lead the fight for a separate system of education.
