The Liangmai Naga Council, Manipur congratulates S Nisa Liangmai, ANM wife of N Silakbou of Makui village, Senapati District on being her conferment of national Florence Nightingale Award, and Armstrong Pamei son of Heitung Pamei of Mpa village, Tamenglong district for getting selected in the IAS cadre in the UPSC conducted civil services exam.
A congratulatory message issued by the information and publicity secretary of LNC, Th Kaisi Liangmai stated that Nisa Liangmai is a hard working woman who deserves such honour.
It also acknowledges her as the only woman who has brought glory to Liangmai community and Naga as a whole.
The message urges the coming generation to follow the footsteps of Nisa and Armstrong and to remember hard work pays.
The statement also looks forward a worthwhile contribution to the Liangmai community and Manipur as a whole from the two achievers.
Nisa, who began her career in nursing as in-charge of Operation Theatre at Kangpokpi Mission Hospital in 1977, is presently serving as ANM at the Makui.
Public Health Service Centre, Senapati district, one of the most remote areas of the state.
The LNC statement also regarded her as the 'Mother of the Area.'
She joined the government service on June 6, 1985.Her role as a caring nurse during the Kuki-Naga ethnic clash was compared with the legendary Florence Nightingale.
She has been the recipient of Best District Health Workers Award, 2003-2004 conferred by the Senapati District Leprosy Society, Special increment and Reward, 19994 from the state Health Service Department.
The Nightingale Nurses Award, given to nurses in recognition of their meritorious services, has been won by three nurses from the state.
Pheiroijam Rani, GNM, RIMS; Thounaojam Chaoba Leima, Principal of School of Community Nursing, Lamshang; and S Nisa were the winners of the prestigious awards from the state this year.
